19 Weeks
10 June 2008 12:40 p.m.
This pregnancy seems so similar to when I was expecting Matthew, I really will have a shock after the delivery if baby is a girl.
I have started sleeping better all of a sudden but I discovered a new discomfort today. Baby is in such a low position, I was getting tight cramps at the very base of my stomach this morning. I went out for a 30 minute walk and I was rather uncomfortable as each time I put one leg in front of the other, I got like a stretching pain. I know it's common at this stage of pregnancy as the uterus is under new pressure to accomodate the growing little person in me.
Bump is very low indeed and all movement seems to be below my belly button again now. Still I haven't had my belly button stick out and I am finding that my boobs look fabulous in most clothes at the moment. Think plastic surgery, neat and VERY rounded looking from the front. Hehehe.
Baby is taking after his big brother and has a little dance inside when Lionel Richie or Michael Jackson is played. I already have 2 kids that like the 80's alot more than I did. Still, I was only just an 80's kid and didn't learn about REAL music until the early-mid 90's.
I have also been suffering the last couple of days with the heat, it's been really hot and it's only the start of summer and I am still not that pregnant compared to many. I have respect for all those who have July, August and September babies.
Speaking of which, I have discovered that by the time my birthday rolls around in September, I will be 34 weeks pregnant and only have just over a month left of being pregnant.
Week NineteenYour baby has the same awake and sleep patterns of a newborn. He has a favorite position for sleep and recognizable active and rest periods.
Throughout baby's body, nerves are being coated with a fatty substance called myelin, which insulates the nerves so that impulses can flow smoothly.
Scalp hair becomes apparent this week. It has sprouted and continues to grow.
The milk teeth buds have already developed and over the next few days the buds for the permanent teeth will begin to form behind the milk teeth. If baby is female the uterus starts to develop. If you're having a girl, the vagina, uterus, and fallopian tubes are in place.
If it's a boy, the genitals are distinct and recognizable.
Your little one's size is around 6.02 inches (15.3cm) and 8.47 ounces (240gm)
Awwwww, things are moving so fast and it's a wonderful thing keeping all this in a specialist diary.
I read through all my old entries about my pregnancy with Matthew and most of it was about work and everything else that was happening at the same time and I wished that I had focussed more on the actual pregnancy than the other stuff.
Five years ago, I had just had my first scan with Matthew and was scheduled for my 20 week scan September 10th. I never noticed until I read back through the old entries that the second scan then was at 22 weeks too so the one I am waiting for is not as late as I thought it was. I guess different hospitals do things differently.
September 10th was also 2 days after my wedding so it was a very busy week. One of the things I noticed most was that baby Matthew had grown from around 4.5cm (head to rump) to a very surprising 18cm (head to rump) and had quadrupled in size in the 10 weeks between each visit. It was amazing.
