34 weeks. Reflection and Poll Updates

Why is it that I always seem to have my best ideas in the bathroom?

What is it about the bathroom that brings out the creative side of me and bring to the surface any deep thinkings?

Last night I was laying in the bath, singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to baby (like I often do) when I was overcome by a new idea.

I was thinking about birth and labour and all that as baby was giving me some little wobbles as I sung to them, when it suddenly hit me that I could still be a little more prepared.

My bag is packed. Baby's half of the bag is also packed.

But then I thought, Oh my God, what if Matthew needs an overnight stay at my mums or nans!!!! It would be more of an adventure for him to stay with them, than for them to come to mine. So, in the blink of an eye the idea to pack a "hospital bag" for Matthew was born.

It wasn't even an old idea resurfacing but a genuine little eureka moment. They are incredibly rare recently as my brain is just a big pile of mush with around 94% of it focussing on the life within me.

I am now due in 42 days!

I have a strange undescribable feeling that baby will actually arrive sometime between October 18th and 23rd.

So other little bits I feel like sharing today....

As you know, I don't know the sex of this baby but bf is convinced it's a girl. So much so, he is telling people this. Me? I am not 100% convinced. Since around week 24 I've had a feeling it could be a girl yet I would not put any bets on it. I still feel like there is more chance of another boy. I have no real reason as to why I think this way. I think that I am drawn towards a girl by the fact that Matthew has been calling baby "her" and "she" since day 1 and that bf has been convinced since our last scan 4 weeks ago. I'm just not quite as convinced as the 2 males in the house. I'm not quite so sold by the fact this pregnancy has been a complete reversal on the first but my last poll showed that nearly twice as many people think that this baby will be a girl as those who think a boy.

Favourite names for GIRLS are Lauren and Sophie followed closely by Amy.

Bf's favourite is STILL Sophie whereas I have preferred Lauren for a good few weeks. If I get my way it will be Lauren Sophie!!!! It's all about finding a happy medium so we'll see about that.

Favourite names for BOYS are James and Sam.

These are the only 2 boys names we have seriously considered since we found out about this little bubba. At the moment, James is in the lead for first name material although Matthew really wants a brother called Sam. We'll have to see what he looks like if he turns out to be a he. He will either be a James Samuel or a Samuel James. I prefer the latter when written like that but I like the idea of James as it's a name that grows with the child. You can have Jamie for when they are young, through to James, Jim whatever when they grow up. It leaves them with a little freedom to play with their name too.

Finally, having made this a far longer entry than planned, here's baby's vital stats for this week as I skipped it last week.

34 Weeks.

Your baby acts completely like a newborn, with eyes opened when awake and closed when sleeping. You may also find baby settling into more of a routine for sleeping & awake times.

Baby has learned to blink. Baby can also see more clearly when there is a bright light on your stomach.

Antibodies from your blood are being tranferred to baby. These immunities continue to build until birth.

Your baby may have already turned to a head-down position in preparation for birth.

Fingernails have reached the end of the fingertips now. Baby may scratch her face even before he/she is born!

Your little one's length is 17.7 inches (45cm) and weight is 4.7 pounds (2146 g).
