38 Weeks
21 October 2008 12:24 p.m.
First of all I am so pleased for my old school friend Sarah. On Sunday morning she gave birth to Emily Mae. Sarah is very petite and somehow managed a natural birth to deliver her first child 7 days overdue and weighing in at a very healthy 8lb 11oz. I admire that woman!
That's just a few days after another Sarah (here at D'land) had a little Claire last Tuesday.
Girls must soon run out. ;)
And now that OFFICIALLY makes my baby the next one due! Everyone I know in the run up to my own birth have had beautiful babies in the last few days so I should be the next in line.
I am now at the stage where every contraction is being dismissed as another practice one. It will seem quite a shock when I go into labour for real as I am just assuming that this will fade again later.
I had a good few days of not having many at all but then all of a sudden I am having them daily again and sometimes lasting quite some time.
Last night I didn't sleep at all well due to regular cramp like feelings that would come and go as they pleased. It was enough to have me give up on trying to sleep.
I had been more comfortable last week but I am back to pelvic pressure again this week and the pressure on my bladder is quite intense too. Yet this baby still loves the odd roll around and has no end of hiccups. I have actually read today that this is due to lack of air. A baby's breathing exercises cause amniotic fluid to get into the windpipe and results in hiccups.
Baby's weight is somewhere between 6.5lb and 7lb now, is around 49cm long and possibly has a full head of hair.
If baby chooses to be born on Sunday of this week, he/she will be born at the same gestation as his/her big brother. Funnily enough Matthew was due on a Tuesday and arrived 9 days early. It would be funny if this one was to do the same.
