thinking ahead
29 May 2008 3:05 p.m.
On Saturday I was obsessing over my hair. Very much a period symptom.
On Monday we took bf's sister and mum to a DIY store as his sister wants to decorate her bedroom now she is back from uni.
When we emptied out the car as we ourselves got home last, bf thought his sis had left her colour charts behind.
Nope, they were mine. He didn't have to say a word but I saw the puzzled look on his face and smiled.
"When your sister mentioned she wanted her bedroom done, it got me thinking, our bedroom could be much more baby friendly. Like more yellow or green. And I was also thinking that we could get rid of those horrible wardrobes, pull up the carpet and get the floorboards sanded and varnished."
"I see...." he replied.
"I just thought it could be a bit warmer and altogether nicer if we did change it and you've been living here for a while, you can have some input in it too and find a colour you'd be happy with."
Now, I have to explain that worse than wanting to dye my hair, is my pre-menstrual design instinct. I had my dining room decorated when I was pms-ing as well as my bedroom and my bathroom.
On Monday, I decided I hated my bedroom and want a new look to it. I did think that as baby is going to spend most of it's time sharing a room with big brother maybe we should do Matthews room. Then whats the point in that if it turns out to be another boy? And I am still stuck with the idea that I still want my own bedroom done very differently anyway.
The worrying thing is that it generally takes just a matter of seconds to get this sort of idea in my head and then I do not settle until it is all done. However, I think as long as it's complete by October 1st, then I will be happy.
I really do like the idea of a nice not too bright but not too pale yellow as I think it would make the bedroom much lighter (not to mention I really like some of the yellow multicoloured moses baskets and baby bedding around at the moment - I'm well co-ordinated.) and the only reason I didn't have yellow before is that the kitchen is yellow. But the kitchen won't be yellow for much longer as it's getting done next week. So I no longer feel crazy for cleaning out all my cupboards 2 days ago out of pure boredom.
