Brief Catchup
22 April 2008 4:54 p.m.
Yesterday we went to have the scan.
Baby Pooh was very good at having his/her photo taken and I will put that on here as soon as lovely bf is kind enough to upload it for me. I cannot use the scanner although I did try to do so this morning.
So, Pooh is measuring in at 49mm on the official reading. That makes me 11 weeks and 6 days pregnant today and puts my estimated due date back a day to November 5th. Guy Fawkes night. That's if the chavs on the estate haven't scared the shit out of me enough with the fireworks from mid October into having an earlier birth.
I still have it in my head, Pooh is going to be a boy. I can't describe this gut feeling. Still, I was wrong with Matthew and could easily be wrong again this time.
The scan showed all the right things. Head, eyes, ear, nose, mouth, back, front, 2 arms, 2 legs and a very clear strong pulsating heartbeat. Pooh even gave mummy and daddy a little gymnastics show and a good few waves as if he/she knew that we were there watching.
Matthew was overjoyed with the baby pic and more so when he was given his own copy I made him with the printer. (The printer side of the machine is fine but I don't get how to frigging well scan!!!)
The next scan is scheduled for 21 weeks on 30th June I think it is which will seem like forever to wait.
I also had to see a midwife to book in my 16 week blood tests for the risks of downs syndrome and such. I was also given a big book for my antenatal care. My god, it's like a folder for school stuff. How on earth am I gonna fill that?
It made me laugh as "the birth plan" page was 4 sides of A4 paper. Matthews birth plan was something along the lines of "I don't know much about this and won't plan ahead. I prefer to do things stage by stage. If I ask for drugs, I want drugs, if I don't then I'm fine. If any intervention at all is needed, do it. I am happy to agree to whatever the professionals recommend." A whole 2 lines of "yes, whatever."
I have to see my GP in week 14 and I have to see the midwife tomorrow so it suddenly all seems so much more real that I am having a baby. *Claps hands excitedly*
Today I had a new haircut and had loads of hair chopped off. I wanted a change and something easy to manage when I have 2 kids so I've gone for a graduated bob. (short back that gets longer to the front) and I am very pleased with it. I'm too lazy to do my hair most days so a brush a day and a little straightening on nights out is ideal for me right now.
