Chris's mum is really good with anything creative. She is a primary school teacher and is always doing different arts and craft things.
A few weeks ago, she asked if we would mind if she knitted baby some cardigans and jumpers. But before she started she wanted to check and see if we had any objection to her going the non-traditional route. In other words, if we minded bright red and green colours instead of white, lemon or light green etc. We thought it a very nice idea.
Now she has asked if we would like a homemade patchwork quilt for the cot. We hadn't really found anything we liked as bedding as yet so jumped at the chance. She emailed Chris a picture of one she would like to do and asked us to tell her of any changes we would like before she starts on it.
This is the original pattern:
I LOVE IT!!!
Obviously it is quite pink so we've asked for some of the pink to be toned down. We don't mind a little but we would like more bright yellow, bright green and orange in the design to make it more suitable for either sex. Also for less flowers and hearts and replace those with more coloured stars.
I really know I shouldn't have a preference but in the last couple of days I am really starting to think it would be really lovely to have a daughter.
I love having Matthew and I would love for him to have a little brother to play football with. But at the same time, I would love the oppertunity to have a little girl that I could dress up and have fun with too.
I'm prepared for another boy but there's something really endearing about having a little girl.
Yesterday was my best friends daughters 3rd birthday and it's not an excuse to want a little girl, but I SO enjoyed looking for a birthday gift for her.
I settled for a pack of 2 dresses. One pink, one green and a little tiny silver plated necklace complete with a little pink jewel. It also came with a tiny silver ring with a pink jewel in that too. It was really quite sweet.
I love buying girly things. I am not a girly girly person myself but there's something really special about little girl things that are so sweet.
Boys things are great and it's fun looking or baby gear whatever the sex may be but as I have no idea whether this is a male or female bump, my mind is a little consumed by exciting ideas for my unborn child.
Either way, I will love this little person as much as I do Matthew.
I still have just over 13 weeks of trying to stay patient. I can't wait to know for sure and start buying for him/her. It's funny how something that feels to be going so quick feels to be going so slow at the same time.
