just who is the mummy
07 August 2008 4:05 p.m.
Matthew and myself had a lovely half hour this morning talking about baby and looking at all the small but neccessary things we already have.
So far, I have managed to stock up on bottles, bottle cleaners, a steriliser, a blanket, bath, towel and wash mitt, baby bubble bath, baby shampoo, baby bag, scratch mitts, 2 hats, 3 vests and nappies.
That's baby's half of the hospital covered almost. All baby will need on top of that is wipes and some basic sleepsuits. As for mummy, well mummy has nothing (though mummy is thinking ahead and has decided she is going to go in prepared and take a sandwich and some drinks in with her)
I even did a couple of demo's for Matthew. We dressed one of his cuddly toys in a vest, hat and scratch mitts. Matthew hugged it and kissed it with a look of pure L♥VE on his face as though he believed it was his own baby.
I explained how we need all these things plus more before baby gets here and explained all the little jobs that a mummy has to do to keep a baby happy. The cleaning, the dressing, the bathing, the changing of nappies, the feeding and making sure they have a comfortable bed to sleep in.
Matthew momentarily took his eyes off his "baby" and looked at me seriously.
"I can do all that for my baby and anything else she needs......... annnnnnnytime she wants anything. Even in the middle of the night cos that's what big brothers are for!"
Bless him!!!
Just when I think I can't love that child anymore he amazes me that one step further.
I'm starting to wonder just who the mummy is in this relationship?
