Week 14 Docs Appt and Poll Results
07 May 2008 11:23 a.m.
I am now into week 14 of this second pregnancy and it does seem an easier pregnancy than the first. It seems to be going very quick already. It doesn't seem possible I am over the first 3 month hurdle and into the second trimester. I think it's because I am more relaxed second time round. I know I had a healthy pregnancy and birth with Matthew and I suppose deep down I "assume" this will be the same, if not easier for me.
I don't quite have the same qualms or "paranoia" I had the first time. Ok, I did still worry that the scan wouldn't find anything and it would be a phantom pregnancy but the pregnant mind works in funny little ways.
This morning I had a very short doctors appointment as a baby progress check. I thought I was due blood tests there but no, I have to go to the local NHS drop in centre for those as the nurse is on holiday.
However my urine was fine, I had no comment on my blood pressure so I assume that was fine too. I was told it was a little high last time. Even if it is still a little high, I expect it beig overweight anyway so I am not going to stress over it. If it was a concern I'd be put on medication no doubt. I don't have to go back for another appointment for NINE weeks. I will be entering or just into week 23 by then and approaching my third trimester!!! How strange does that sound. It will fly by too as it's already been 7 weeks since my last appointment.
My trip to the doctors wasn't completely pointless though as I did get to hear Poohs heartbeat. It was faint as it is still a little early (not to mention my extra size 18 padding!) but I still heard it. :)
The last poll results were interesting.
A whopping 78% of us seem to think Pooh is a boy. (That's the 10 that took the poll and then includes bf, best friend and 2 friends I saw over the weekend who haven't filled it in) so if baby Pooh turns out to be a girl there will be alot of surprises.
Average weight expectancy is 7.9lbs. I think that's reasonable. Matthew was born at 6lbs 12oz and was 9 days early.
Nobody expects baby to be born on his/her due date. 70% think he/she will be born before then.
And finally, a night time baby is expected with 72% thinking baby will arrive sometime between 6pm and 6am with 70% guessing the baby will take between 4 and 12 hours to arrive. Matthew took around 4 and a half hours to put in an appearance from the time I got contractions or just under 7 hours from the time my waters broke, so it could be a good guess.
Personally I want an 11.40am delivery after 2 hours of labour. Hahaha. :) Still, babies do as babies choose.
